How to pay for your ride
Set expectations up front so you get the right ride without a surprise on the invoice.
If you have South Carolina Healthy Connections Medicaid
Version A — Credentialing in progress
Medicaid transportation is arranged through the state's transportation broker, not directly with transportation companies. This is true of every NEMT provider in South Carolina, including us.
Here's what to do:
- Call the transportation number on the back of your Medicaid or health plan card, or call your plan's member services line.
- Schedule your trip with the broker. Have your appointment date, time, address, and the reason for the visit ready.
- Call at least three business days ahead for routine appointments. Urgent trips and hospital discharges can sometimes be arranged with less notice.
- The broker verifies your eligibility, authorizes the trip, and assigns it to a transportation provider.
We are currently completing enrollment in the state's Medicaid transportation network. Until that is finished, we cannot accept Medicaid-covered trips. We'll update this page the day it changes.

Version B — After credentialing complete

- Schedule your trip with the broker. Have your appointment date, time, address, and the reason for the visit ready.
- Call at least three business days ahead for routine appointments.
- The broker verifies your eligibility, authorizes the trip, and assigns it to a transportation provider.
You may request Nexus VIP Rides. The broker decides which provider is assigned, so we cannot promise you'll get us — but you can ask, and many members do.
What we cannot do: book, authorize, or guarantee a Medicaid trip ourselves. If you call us to schedule a Medicaid ride, we will walk you through calling the broker, but we cannot do it for you. That's how the program works statewide.
If you have Medicare
What Medicare covers
Medicare generally does not cover non-emergency medical transportation. Some Medicare Advantage plans include a transportation benefit — check your plan documents or call your plan's member services number to find out.
Private Pay
You can hire us directly, with no insurance involved
Call (843) 457-1060 and we'll quote your trip before you commit. Our rates are on file with the South Carolina Office of Regulatory Staff, and we'll tell you the price up front — base rate, mileage, and anything else that applies. No surprises on the invoice.

If a facility is arranging your ride
You have nothing to arrange and nothing to pay
Nursing homes, dialysis centers, and hospitals often arrange and pay for transportation directly under a contract with us. If a facility is scheduling your trip, you have nothing to arrange and nothing to pay.
